Shifters

The Changing Breed in Washington D.C.

The Changing Breed. Servants of Gaia, they walk in the natural places of the world, where Gaia is still pure, and unpoisoned by the enemy that they fight; the Wyrm, The spirit of destruction, the Wyrm has gnawed away at the roots of Gaia, infecting her with toxic waste, pollution, and more. The Wyrm uses his Banes to infect the minds and souls of man, and twist them, to hatred, cruelty, avarice and war. The warriors of the Changing Breed, the Garou, fight the Wyrm with all their hearts and souls, but they have alienated their fellow shapeshifters, and all know that the time of the Apocalypse draws near. In their hearts, they know that the battle is already lost. The Apocalypse is coming, and when it comes, the Garou will fall, as will Gaia. But warriors to the bitter end, they will not concede defeat, and so they rip at the Wyrm and it's minions, determined to fight on to the very last. The others of the Changing Breed are fewer in number, decimated long ago by the War of Rage with the Garou, and further still by the predation of the Wyrm. And as often as not, they are singular, where the Garou are many. They do their best to fight the Wyrm, each in their own ways, as well as to fulfill the duties set them by Gaia, so long ago.

D.C. is a city set outside of nature more firmly than most. In such a place, the Garou are not particularly strong. At this point in time, there are 36 standard Garou slots to be filled, as well as 6 slots for Black Spiral Dancers. There are also 15 slots for kinfolk, and 10 for fomori. Other Bete will be accepted on a case-by-case basis, but the applications will need to be superior in quality. Below are listed the Garou tribes that will work exceptionally well in the area. Garou from other tribes will be accepted in limited numbers. Following are short sections on the other shifters, and what the current status on them is. There is a particular need for Bone Gnawers, Glasswalkers, and Wendigo, so preference will be given to these three tribes.

Black Furies:

The Furies are allies of the Children of Gaia in the area, and help to keep programs running to assist women and children in the area. As such, there are a need for Furies, both for these city programs, and for the wilderness areas.

Bone Gnawers:

In a city with this many homeless people, the Bone Gnawers are present in force, both helping the homeless, and living off the excess of the college town. They seem to be able to thrive even through the harsh winter, and rumor persists they have some kind of shelter.

Children of Gaia:

The Children of Gaia are a major force in the New Age environment of Ann Arbor. They have perhaps the strongest voice among the tribes in the city, and have so far managed to keep the city from gaining additional Leech reinforcement.

Fianna:

In a city with street musicians and poets, so kissed by the Glamour of the Fae, the Fianna have come, reinforcing what was already a numerous Irish immigrant population.

Glass Walkers:

The Glass Walkers are a major power in the city, reputed to have some degree of influence on the city council, as well as influence within the banking community, and several of the local businesses. If there is a tribe with a voice equal to the Children of Gaia, it is the Glass Walkers.

Stargazers:

The city has a high Asian population. As such, Eastern philosophy and religion are somewhat more common here than they might otherwise be, and there's a good chance that a few Stargazers have come along, seeking enlightenment.

Corax:

There's a high population of ravens, in the city, and in the area. Corax applications will be considered, two of which are currently open. Interested parties should speak to HHHHHHH before applying.

Bastet:

Bastet are highly territorial creatures, and fairly solitary, so large numbers do not dwell in the area. Up to 2 slots are currently open, preference given to be of the Qualmi, Pumonca, or Ceilican tribes.

Ratkin:

There is a small but flourishing Ratkin community within the city. There are currently 6 slots open. Interested parties should speak to Daisy before applying, as there are a number of pieces of specific information that an applicant should be aware of.

Ananasi:

The Ananasi have a small group here, working towards a cause of their own. There are 3 slots currently open. Interested applicants should contact HHHHHHH for the specifics before completing an application.

Kitsune:

With a sizable population of Asian origin and ancestry, the Kitsune have a small group here. There are 2 slots currently open.

Nagah:

The snake people are extremely rare, most everyone believes them to be extinct. We'll look at an app, but it must be of exceptional quality to even be considered. A reason for the Nagah to be in D.C. must be included.

Hengeyokai:

The Asian shapechangers have made most of their incursions into America on the West Coast, not so far inland. However, with the high Asian population, consideration will be given to Hengeyokai applications, though the quality will need to be EXCEPTIONAL. Preference will be given to Kitsune first, as there is a potential role for them in the area.
